How Humanitarian Aid Weakened Post-Earthquake Haiti
More than four years after Port-au-Prince crumbled to the ground, last month's meeting with a delegation from the American Chamber of Commerce seemed to mark Haiti's steady new pathway to recovery ...

great michelle chen, but she forgets(?) to mention the role that h.clinton's special skills at "triumphing in democracy building through rigged elections"TM played in haiti after the haiti catastrophe was hijacked by the USA:
hillary (+slick willie) excluded from haiti's presidential election the most popular candidate and sure winner --former, usa-deposed president aristide-- bcse "the usa says so!" (and not for nothing she had flash-dispatched an aircraft carrier there "to help with the earthquake!").
an abomination not unlike the recent UKR election that disenfranchised 8 million voters, a glorious operation which she left well-launched in nuland's hands when she left foggy bottom in 2013.
Un second ;
Beyond getting the opinion of someone from POHDH, this article doesn't really present anything new. I'm tired of seeing "articles" that are just a series of links to reports that have already been shared widely. These articles, like this one, often bring up good points, but somehow strip Haitians of any responsibility. There are typically conflicting demands (get the UN out of Haiti! oh, but we need the UN to secure elections!) presented, not necessarily the author's.
Why is there no mention of the elections that haven't been held? Why is there no discussion of the Haitian government driving up costs on housing post-quake, reducing the impact of American aid dollars? NGO's, the U.S. govt., and multilateral funders are easy to criticize, but at the end of the day, people in the Haitian govt. have a choice to accept or reject a lot of things, yet we rarely hear about these choices. Yes, there are strong forces up against them, but let's not pretend that some Haitians are culpable in this situation.
Et un petit dernier :
Considering that Obama appointed two KNOWN crooks to head the relief campaign (George W. Bush & Bill Clinton), is anyone surprised? Is this shocking to anyone? Poisonous snakes inject poison into their victims in order to prepare a lunch. That's their nature.
