You are invited to protest with us the murderous racist attacks of Indigenous people in Bolivia by an increasingly Nazi opposition, backed by the US government, which wants to regain control of the region (see details of demo in London below).
In response to Bolivia’s first Indigenous president, Evo Morales, winning a Referendum on 10 August 2008 by a landslide vote of 67%, armed gangs in the wealthier provinces have been rampaging, occupying government buildings and trying to take control of energy installations. Their slogans speak for themselves, for example: “Hitler killed Jews because he didn’t know the Kollas”, i.e. the Indigenous.
The US ambassador Philip Goldberg has been asked to leave for plotting with the opposition to divide Bolivia, as he did with ex-Yugoslavia. In solidarity with the people of Bolivia, and in protest at US involvement in a recent assassination and coup attempt against President Chávez in Venezuela, the US ambassador there has also been asked to leave.
Market women in Tarija have been the first to win against these Nazi gangs: after nine hours of fierce battle they managed to force them out, despite the police retreating halfway through.
The Global Women’s Strike in Bolivia has been organizing against this US-backed racism and in defence of their elected government and its constitution. We will not allow this return to genocidal colonialism.
