Greetings!

Tired of not seeing your image in cinema?
Then... TAKE OVER THE CINEMA !

Imagenation, a Harlem-based organization, was established in 1997 to counteract negative images and stereotypes that are propagated about people of color, through mass media; and, to establish a chain of independent art-house cinemas. Imagenation uses independent cinema and progressive music to foster solidarity and cross-cultural exchange throughout the African Diaspora, with special focus on the USA and South Africa

ImageNation is organizing progressive and like-minded individuals to come together to TAKE OVER THE CINEMA, by attending selected screenings of films that are made by and about people of color. Our collective economic power is sending a loud message to theater owners and distributors that it is profitable to program and promote films that edify are communities. The selected film: KILLER OF SHEEP now playing at the IFC Center, NYC. (see discount group sales coupon at the bottom of this e-flyerl).

The film opened Friday, March 30th and had a sold out opening weekend.

About Killer of Sheep

"An American masterpiece, independent to the bone."
- Manohla Dargis, The New York Times

Killer of Sheep examines the black Los Angeles ghetto of Watts in the mid-1970s through the eyes of Stan, a sensitive dreamer who is growing detached and numb from the psychic toll of working at a slaughterhouse. The film offers no solutions; it merely presents life — sometimes hauntingly bleak, sometimes filled with transcendent joy and gentle humor.
