D'après ce que l'on comprend l'accident est survenu quand l'étudiant a voulu relancer une des grenades lancées par les policiers dans la cour de la fac et la renvoyer.
La question est comment se fait-il que la police lance des greandes à l'intérieur d'une faculté ?
Cette police n'a pas appris de ses instructeurs, français, canadiens etc, comment disperser des manifestations ?

Video shows Jacky Moise a student at the teacher\’s college, Ecole Normale Superieure, at the School of Ethnology being taken to the General Hospital of Port-au-Prince with his right hand shredded off.
It is said that Moise lost his hand when he and other students were returning tear gas canisters that were being fired onto the university campus. One such canister was not tear gas but a grenade which exploded when the student picked it up. via Haiti: Grenade Blast Takes Student’s Hand.
