The Minister of Agriculture, Limber Cruz López, confirmed the seizure of fruits, vegetables, and other foodstuffs from Spanish artist Julio Iglesias at the Punta Cana International Airport (east of the country).
“We have an alert and we have a very strong surveillance throughout the national territory, because of a sporadic incursion of the Mediterranean Fruit Fly,” said Cruz.

Spanish artist Julio Iglesias has had his luggage seized by airport officials in the Dominican Republic because it contained over 42kg of groceries, including strawberries, framboises, myrtilles, cherries, tomatoes, beets, celery, beans, spinach, lettuce, mushrooms and meat.
