Wiclef Jean, pense qu'il a tellement de pouvoir en Haïti, qu'un groupe politique a monté, une fois, un complot pour l'assassiner. Jean a quitté son pays à l'âge de neuf ans. Depuis qu'il est devenu célèbre, il y retourne souvent et a créé des associations de charité pour lutter contre la pauvreté.

Le fait qu'il soit devenu une icône pour les citoyens haïtiens, grâce à son engagement, gêne certains personnages puissants.

Jean a refusé de révéler qui est responsable du complot pour le tuer, mais il a déclaré à Hip Hop Weekly " Ils ont comploter pour m'assassiner, mais manifestement ça n'a pas fonctionné. Je prennds très au sérieux ce que je fais, mais, je ne crais rien...à l'exception de ma maman." Il a ajouté : " Avant même que je ne touche le sol d'Haïti, je sais tout ce qui s'y passe. Des bidonvilles à partout ailleurs. Tout le monde a peur que je prenne le pouvoir, parce que dans leurs têtes, ils pensent que je voudrais être président et ils savent que je gagnerais par une avalanche (landslide)"

Hip-hop star WYCLEF JEAN is so powerful in his native Haiti, a political group once hatched a plot to assassinate him.
The former Fugees star moved to the United States with his family when he was just nine years old, but since finding fame he has returned often and established charitable groups to aid the poverty-stricken country.
And while his work has made him a iconic figure in among Haitian citizens, it's alienated him from certain powerful figures.
Jean refuses to reveal who plotted to kill him, but tells Hip Hop Weekly, "They had a plot to assassinate me, but it obviously didn't go down. I take what I do very seriously, but I fear nothing... except my mamma."
He adds, "Before I touch the ground in Haiti, I know everything that's going on. From the slums to everywhere. Everybody fears me that wants to take the power 'cause in their minds they think I wanna be president and they know that I would win by a landslide.'"

hello, my name is Ronald Osias, I live at Port - au - Prince, Haiti. I'm trying to understand Wiclif Jean, but that story miss somethings, it's not devlop. i know Wiclif Jean dont affraid about nothing, he does what he has to do for his country. often, I heard there are some say who has a team we complot againts Jean. since, the Black Alex 's assasinat...but With GOD he was'nt die. i know the traditionnal politicians and all haitian who dont want Haiti go well can do that. I think, Wiclif have to say wich one or wich team traditionnal buseness politician complot to take his life. WJ dont let know take in this play, so you have to continous what your started to save the life of every children who are dieying because they can't eat, can't go to school, can't have a minimum for there life...during the traditionnal buseman politician are there and look at them with out do nothing. we're with you WJ if you want to continous...we are with you, if you want to change the life, we are with you, if you want to change the traditionnal busenessman politician ...wiclif dont never give up...we have to fight every day, every hours- every minuts after minuts...second after second...to give an other image for our country that we love together.osiasry@yahoo.fr
