Haitian Women Stories through Women’s Eyes
A special CD release event,
The Broward County Library and Vie et Art Collections are pleased to invite you to the release of Boston-based Haitian storyteller Charlot Lucien’s (www.charlotlucien.com) latest CD, “Grann Dede”, a compilation of stories featuring powerful composites of women who find themselves negotiating realities more complex than the role assigned to them traditionally. Please join us for the following events:
-A CD signing, including storytelling and lodyans on Saturday June 2, 8PM at Jakmel Art Gallery, 147 NW 36TH ST, Miami, FL 33127.
-A CD signing and panel discussion on Sunday June 3rd, 6PM at the Broward County Library auditorium, 100 South Andrews Av. Fort Lauderdale Fl 33301.
The panel, featuring authors Margaret Armand, literary critic Dr. Ludovic Comeau Jr. traveling from Chicago, and media personality Elisabeth Guérin as moderator, will analyze the representations of women in Haiti’s oral literature. Introductory remarks by professor Babacar M'Bow. Both events are FREE and will include musical performances with guitarists Manno Chalmay and Ernst Régis, a surprise tribute to storyteller Maurice Sixto by Dr. Ludovic Comeau Jr.
Special appearances at Nuvo Kafe, on May 31, P'tit Resto on June 1st.
