Haiti and Dominican Republic Create High-Level Commission |
Caracas, Dec 17 (Prensa Latina) The president of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, announced the decision of the heads of state of Haiti, Michell Martelly and Dominican Republic, Danilo Medina, to form a high-level bilateral commission. As part of the tribute to Simon Bolivar on the 183 anniversary of his death, the president said the two heads of state agreed to create that instance with five members from each country.The commission, he said, is aimed at finding solutions to problems that in recent months have been affecting the two governments. According to Maduro, the purpose is to achieve "a just, proper and balanced solution," to which they invited the activities of the body to Venezuela, United Nations, European Union and the Caribbean Community (Caricom). Medina and Martelly are in Venezuela in order to attend the summit of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA) / Petrocaribe, in session in this capital. ef/gpm/ls/mem | |
